Daniel's Note
Growing up in Hawaii, I divided my time between surfing and playing music, interrupted only occasionally by a tiny bit of studying. Every free moment was spent on my surfboard catching waves until dusk. Between sets I would sit on my Hawaiian Island Creations surfboard, stare at the setting sun, and wonder to myself if I had what it took to be a musician someday. What I should have been doing was practicing instead of surfing and daydreaming!

I spent the next twenty years working in this alternately frustrating and rewarding profession. During that time, I recorded hundreds of songs and played as many gigs. Some good, some bad, but all were learning experiences. When I decided to do a solo record, I wanted it to be unique and have some personal significance.

"Watercolors" afforded me this rare opportunity. As a result, I feel this album is a very personal reflection - with touches of Hawaiian slack key guitar incorporated into the contemporary jazz sound, and the beautiful art of Wyland representing my fondness of the sea and it's marine life.
